Established in 2012, The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) was established as a university-wide institute under Penn State’s Vice President for Research: ICS supports and promotes interdisciplinary research by providing or assisting in the provision of the various resources, funding, training, and support that Penn State researchers need, all through big data and high-performance computing methods.
In addition to providing high-quality, advanced computing and storage for researchers, the organization also offers variety of services, including operations, backup, technical consulting, and training specific to the facility’s resources. It currently operates over 16,000 processing cores, 2.5 Petabytes of parallel file storage, high-speed interconnects, and a large software stack supporting all aspects of research.
